Plot
Joachim is married and prays to god to bless him with a child. An angel, Gabriel, appears before him and says that he will be blessed with a girl child, but he should leave her in the temple to serve god. Joachim accepts this deal. After a few years when Mary was born, her parents took her to the temple and left her as they promised. Years passed by. When she goes out one day, Joseph sees her and decides to marry her. As Gabriel appeared before Joseph, he meets Mary’s parents. Later, their marriage is fixed. Before their marriage, he appears before Mary’s parents and Joseph and tells them about her future child. This makes Mary’s townspeople believe that Mary had a child out of marriage.
Star Performance
Noa Cohen did what was required of her. Ori Pfeffer, Dudley O’Shaughnessy, and Ido Tako did justice to the given roles. Anthony Hopkins is quite decent in his role.
Analysis
Though it is a known story, the director should have tried to explain to the audience what has been going on inside Mary. Her character is not developed well. The director should’ve shown how Mary grew stronger despite the people’s wrong beliefs about her. Though there are chances for developing an interesting script and gripping screenplay, the makers didn’t meet the expectations of the audience. With the weak development of characters, the makers didn’t give enough space for the talented stars to perform.

Verdict
Despite its shortcomings, Mary can be watched just to understand the history.
