Plot
A young couple, Brad and Ashley, travel from Germany, and their car breaks down. They look around for help, but instead, they find a dead body. As it is getting late, they search for a place to spend the night and finally see an isolated house. To their surprise, it was the house of a German SS officer whose spirit still lives there. Will they be safe there? Why is the spirit still in that house? What happened to the SS officer?
Star Performance
Chara, as Ashley, did a stellar performance. From a girl who was afraid of the German spirits in the house to a brave woman who fought for her life to get out of the house, she portrayed the emotions well. Andy as the SS officer wearing all the special makeup yet scaring the people with intense expressions, is a major reason for the success.
Analysis
There are a lot of hidden details in the movie, like the star necklace, which forces the audience to think and understand what is going on. The Nazis and the German backstory didn’t make that much of a difference to the main plot.
What’s There?
• The makeup and effects are well done.
• The setting, showing Germany in Australia and the landscape shots are satisfying.
What’s Not There?
• The order in which the movie progresses is confusing.
• Cliché horror elements.
Verdict
It is a new and impressive attempt at psychological horror movies. This movie is definitely worth watching.
