The movie ‘ Joyful Noise Click to look into! >> Read More... ’ is about a town with choirs in it. The title is intended to describe the film. But ‘Joyful Noise’ does not do that. .

The plot happens in the background of Pacashau, a town situated in Georgia. The city is facing difficult times. The town inmates believe more in the choir to lift up their morale that could bag a prize for the choir singers in a competition. There is unity among the members of the choir. But, the two lead runners in the choir do not get along well. It may mar the relationship between these two ladies. Now, a new director is appointed. Latifah does the role the director in the choir. The director is particular about following the traditional ways. But, the aggressive G.G. Sparrow, done by Parton believes in sticking to the modern times.

As Randy the music expert arrives, the movie gains speed. All along, he has been noting the beautiful Olivia. Olivia turns out to be the daughter of director and head in the choir, Vi Rose Hill. Now, the already troubled relationship between G. G. and Vi gets worse. The singers should strike the right chord or else they will lose everything.

As choir is going on in the stage, the director Bernard develops angina and is brought down from the stage.

The next scene unfolds with a discussion between the widowed G.G. and the Pastor. It reveals that the director Bernard had passed away. Now, as shown earlier, there is the clash between G.G. and Vi Rose Hill which arises out of a desire for the position of director. Also, Dale clings to the choice of Vi becoming the director. Throughout her profession, Vi had been a dedicated singer, and she believes that she could bring the choir back to form.

There is another romance story running alongside in the movie. Daughter and son of the rivals are in love with each other. But, love in the movie seems to be the stereotyped one. The charming characters share the screen space just for the namesake.

In a dim lighting and secluded room, one could hear a melancholic music playing. But it is tragic that the movie is a comedy. The movie is not the right one for even those who know about choirs. The film seems to be a very average one.

The investment into the movie has gone down the drains. Even those who are going to choirs may find oddities in the film. They would uphold their convictions firmly. The movie resembles yet another one, ‘Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit’. Just like the other movie, ‘Joyful Noise’ is not worthwhile and is just a grinding noise.
