MORE CAST & CREW
IT Chapter Two is an American supernatural horror film directed by Andi Muschietti. It is the sequel to the first film ‘IT’. It is the second of a two-part adaptation of the 1986 novel of the same name by Stephen King.
Plot
The story takes place 27 years after the initial defeat of IT, the scary dancing clown also called Pennywise, who once again returns to Derry. He kills a man on his arrival, alerting Mike, the only member of the group(Losers Club) who had stayed back in Derry. The Losers Club, which comprised of seven children, now return as adults due to a promise they had made twenty-seven years ago, upon the call of their friend Mike. One of the members commits suicide due to fear of facing the creature. The group plans to confront and end the creature once and for all. Meanwhile, IT’s number of victims slowly increases. Through lots of research and a vision, they find out that the Native American “Ritual of Chud” can end it for good. They initiate the process of the ritual by acquiring the essentials required and, on the way, have multiple encounters with IT. The rest of the story follows how the group fights the manipulations of IT and works together to defeat it for good.
Star Performance
Bill Skarsgard delivers a stellar performance as Pennywise, who contributes to the central element of the movie i.e., horror. The actors who comprise The Losers Club shine in their own way, making the whole concept and storyline of the movie very engaging and thrilling to watch. The supporting roles also added charm to the storyline.
Analysis
The movie is a good watch for all horror lovers, and being a sequel to the first part, which was a commercial success, IT Chapter Two didn't fail to impress the audience with the acting, aesthetics, and storyline. Despite already viewing the clown in the first part, the creators succeeded in making improvisations that were able to render chills yet again for the viewers. The movie had a few tragic twists, but it served as a necessary sacrifice for the happy ending. The friendship bonds and fulfillment of the promise were very well delivered. The movie indirectly conveyed the message of facing and standing up to your fears to come up and forward in your life rather than be haunted by them throughout your life. Due to its prequel setting a high bar, the second part had relatively weaker scares but still is a good watch. It is a recommended watch for all audiences who love horror.
