Plot: The movie starts with Sam Lawton going on an office retreat with his colleagues. While returning, he has a premonition of North Bay Bridge collapsing, killing everyone on the bridge except his girlfriend Molly Harper. To save everyone's lives, he warns everyone about the bridge is going to collapse and tries to convince them to get to the other side of the bridge as soon as possible.
Sam, along with his girlfriend Molly runs to save their lives. His friends Nathan Sears and Peter Freidkin; Peter's girlfriend, Candice Hooper; his boss Dannice Lapman; and co-workers Olivia Castle and Isaac Palmer follows him and gets to the other side of the bridge safely before the bridge collapses. Suddenly people who got saved in the mishap starts dying in the same order they were supposed to die on the bridge. William Bludworth tells the survivors that death doesn't like to be cheated. The movie continues as Sam and Molly start unfolding mysteries and escaping death.
Analysis: The Final Destination franchise has improved in the fifth installment but still lags behind in touching the earlier set benchmarks. The movie has lost strings which needed much more attention. However, the movie succeeded in horrifying the audience despite of the average direction. Some instances may seem inappropriate to be kept in the film.
Star Performances:Â Nicholas D'Agosto and Ellen Wroe in the lead has done just enough to get through the line. Emma Bell Emma Bell is an actress known for her works in mov >> Read More... and Miles Fisher appears on the screen for a short span, but they should've done more work on their expressions. Courtney B. Vance has done justice to his role and would make you clap after the interrogation scene. William Bludworth also pleases the audience with his intense character. Steven Quale has shown some signs to be back in form from the movie. However, he still has to go a long way to touch the standards of Final Destination 1.
What's there:
1) The horror to terrify you is in enough quantity to shake you up from the core.
2) Some scenes like the bridge collapsing look realistic with the VFX effects, and the movie stands firm in the technical area.
What's not there:Â
1) The expectations from the Final Destination franchise is still high, and the movie fails to make a mark in this aspect.
2) There are too many loopholes in the movie which irritates the audience at many instances.
Verdict: The movie does succeed in terrifying the audience but fails to win trust again. Overall, the movie can be watched once.
