Plot

The film is based on the future when an explosion occurs close to the sun, and solar storms harm the earth’s environment, killing over 99% of the earth’s population and only 1% survive. Luckily, they were good and qualified human beings and wanted to recover the world. They start to plan for this and realize that humans are too little and are not capable of recovering the world again, so they think of making robots. In a few times, many robots were ready. The robots had super abilities but two things were taken care of while making them, they could not harm any human being because humans were not in the phase to bear further loss, and the second rule was robots could not build another robot because if that happens then robots will replace humans soon. As time passed the robots were extremely developed and were capable of doing all possible things required for Earth’s development, they were making tall buildings which is beneficial for humans, and they were also doing basic tasks for humans, at a time when it was not raining robots made it possible. But in a few years, the robots started possessing faults. Will Robots turn harmful to humans? The rest of the movie revolves around it.

Star Performance

Antonio Banderas’s role was convincing and worth the character along with all the supporting characters. Altogether the cast did a decent job.

Analysis

The film is really impressive, and can amaze you through the emotion it transmits. You will likely appreciate most elements of this film, apart from the dystopia premise and a lack of futuristic settings, humanity progressed in robotics but not in every other area of importance. The futuristic interpretation combined elements of Chappie, and iRobot, mixed with bits. However, unlike the other movies it just fell short. Failing to capture you and immerse you in its storytelling.  The film like many other stereotypical robot movies tries to address robots getting sentinel life. It often felt like watching a low-budget b grade sci-fi flick, with the only saving grace being Antonio Banderas. But it was awakening of AI consciousness, crime, and corporate subterfuge. All blended to create a story that holds your attention to the end. This isn’t a summer blockbuster type movie but has the polish of one.

What’s There?

Attractive robotic movements and movie set

What’s Not There

The storyline is left loose in between, which fails to keep the viewer engaged.

Verdict

If you enjoy slower-paced sci-fi with a decent enough plot and a few twists this is solid. The movie is worth giving it a try. There have been movies on human-robot coexistence but this one is unique.
