Addicted is an American erotic thriller film released in 2014. The movie is based on Zane's novel of the same name for which she is best known. The movie was released on October 10th 2014.

Plot:

The movie revolves around the life of Zoe Reynard (Sharon Leal) and her addiction for sex. Zoe and her husband Jason Reynard (Boris Kodjoe) seem to have a perfect life on the outside. The couple has two kids. However, Zoe is not quite happy with her marriage and eyes on other men for sex. She attends an art show and runs into with Quinton Canosa (William Levy), the artist of the show.

They share some intimate moments and finally end up having sex. They have a rough relation where they keep breaking up regularly and getting back again. One day when Zoe gets to get back with Quinton, she learns that he is cheating on her. Zoe throughout the movie narrates this to her therapist Dr. Marcella Spencer (Tasha Smith) as a flashback who is treating her for sex addiction.

After diagnosing Zoe with sex addiction, Dr.Marcella feels that it must be something from her past that keeps coming back and hurts her. Zoe's addiction takes over her life, and she begins to sleep with another guy Corey (Tyson Beckford) whom she met at a club. Realizing what shame she has put her family into she decides to break up with Corey as well as Quinton and tries to fix her family back.

However the three have a very heated conversation, and Corey and Quinton try to attack her. Jason suddenly appears and saves her from the two. Zoe is very guilty of the things she did in the past, and she apologizes to Jason, but he refuses to get back with her. The two split. Zoe becomes a recluse but soon goes to a group therapy session where it is discovered that the cause of Zoe's addiction was a sexual assault and rape committed against her earlier in her life.

Analysis:

The story is described in quite a nice way though the story has a negative impact altogether. It has been certified R because of the sexual intimacy shown between the characters and drug abuse. This movie depicts how a past life experience can influence your present and future.

Verdict:

If one is looking for a movie filled with thrill and a touch of romance in it then, Addicted is a perfect choice.
