Cyclone Nisarga makes landfall and Mumbai suffers a lot from the heavy rain along with corona. As the cyclone alert was made at the right time, nearly 10, 480 people from the BMC were evacuated and 30, 000 + people moved to safer places. The corporation had provided 35 schools as temporary shelters for the people who evacuated their homes. The wind blew at 75 mph. This is the first time in this century the city is facing a massive cyclone, stated the reports. Although the speed of the wind is reduced, the rain is expected to continue tonight.
The airport authorities stated that the operations would resume from 6 pm at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. The landfall in Alibaug’s southern area had minimized the impact of cyclone in Mumbai, stated the officials.
