Aditya Thackeray belongs to one of the most distinguished political families of India, the Thackerays. Besides being the head of the Yuva Sena, which is Shiv Sena’s youth wing, the 25-year-old young leader also presides over the Mumbai District Football Association's (MDFA) top position. In the last few months, Aditya has been buckling down to ensure that Football emerges in the state to produce India's leading footballers. With the Indian Super League approaching fast, he has been working on redeveloping the stadium at Andheri, which is the home ground for Ranbir Kapoor’s team Mumbai City Football Club. To understand the game more, he had apparently got himself a FIFA rulebook and was also following the La Liga matches. In an interview to a sports website, the Thackeray scion talked about the changes introduced in the stadium. The renovated stadium can accommodate around 25000 fans and also features a spa, gymnasium and four dressing rooms for the players. The ground has been designed in such a way that the water drains quickly and hence, matches can be played in the rainy season as well. The stadium has been named “Mumbai Football Arena” and will be inaugurated by Praful Patel, the President of All India Football Federation. It will be interesting to see how Aditya’s 9-month long hard work pays off when the stadium is launched this month.
