Azfar Ali is a versatile director, producer and incredible actor from the Pakistan film industry. He was born on April 29, 1980, in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. He did his education in graphic design from Barnet College London, UK. He also learnt concept writing and idea development from Miami Advertising College, USA. Initially, he started his career as an assistant director at Network Television Marketing Channel in 1995 and worked in various soap operas including Jaal (1995). Alongside, he worked in a pop music charts show named the Music Channel Charts for almost a year. He worked with various associations during the year of 1996.
For instance, he became an assistant director and worked in a mini-serial French Toast (1996). Besides that, he has served at the Child Aid Association in Karachi and contributed to the documentary Leukaemia in Children. One of the major achievements was serving as a director at Oxford University Press. Soon, he started working at Pakistan Television Corporation Limited as an actor as well as director-producer for almost two years. During the year of 1998, he was associated with Pakistan Television Corporation Limited in Karachi as an actor and director and worked in the teleplays Rustam aur Sohrab (1998), Dilbar Heights (1998), and Assan Assan se Panch Lafz (1998) (as a director). Alongside, he directed a documentary Asian Management Institute Iqra University in 1998. Next year he took the role of the director at Cross Current Media and worked for a TV serial Subah Hone Ko Hai (1999).
Apart from that, he is the creator, director, writer and actor in the sitcom Sub Set Hai, which was released in the year of 2001. From 2001 to 2002, he worked under Indus TV as a creator, writer and director and directed and produced the sitcom Roommates in 2002. He directed a popular short play Paro, Larte Larte and Apple Pie in 2002. He was part of the telefilm Daira (2002) which was the first Pakistani movie on moth smoke. He has done various projects with Get TV and some of them include Ab Ke December (2005), Yeh Cheez (2005), Mein Aur Tum (2004), produced and wrote the miniseries Dreamers, teleplay Desi Girls (2009), Baarish main Dewaar (2008), Ab Set Hai (2008) and launched a music band ‘LAAL’ with a music video for their song Umeed-e-Seher in 2009.
Apart from that, he has also worked as an actor in Plan B Entertainment Inc.’s A Mighty Heart (2007). He is a self-employed producer, director, and content creator at the Azfar Ali Works and has worked on various projects including Aisa Karoge to Kon Ayega, Lipton Light On Hai, documentaries and music videos for brands such as Pakistan Tobacco Company, a series of ads for Golootlo. pk, directed PepsiCo ‘Kurkure’ Ramzan Series, directed a mini digital story for Sunsilk Unilever Pakistan, Daraz. pk show called Hansa Mana Hai, a digital ad for McDonald’s spicy chicken burger, the drama series Gali Main Chand Nikla for TV One, Meri Behn Maya (Geo Entertainment) and Sehra Main Safar Sehra Main Safar is a Pakistani Urdu-language roma >> Read More...
