Shabab Kiranwi was a Pakistani cinema director, producer, and sometimes screenwriter, lyricist, and author who lived from 1925 until 1982. Jalwa (1955) marked his debut in the Pakistani cinema business as a producer and lyricist, while Surayya marked his directorial debut (1961). Out of seventy-five films, he directed more than fifty. Surayya (1961) and Shama-e-Mohabbat (1977) are two of his films as a producer. Apart from making comedies, most of his works are on societal themes and social inequalities between the rich and the poor. Tumhi ho Mehboob Meray, his first colour motion picture, was released in 1969. He worked as a screenplay writerfor one of his films, Bemisaal. Nazir Ahmed was born in Muzaffarnagar, British India, in 1926. He began his career as a journalist with a film magazine called Picture.
He was born Nazir Ahmed but changed his name to Hafiz Nazir Ahmed after memorizing the Quran in primary school. He began composing poetry at the age of 15 and adopted the pen name "Shabab." Kiranwi began his career as a producer with Jalwa in 1955. During his career, he directed more than seventy-five Urdu films. Some of his films were nominated for Nigar Awards. His other works include Mehtab, which was a box office smash and inspired him to start his own film production firm, Shabab Studio. His two poems, ‘Mooj Shabaab’ and ‘Bazar Sada’, were published before his death as lyricists. He wrote around twenty-four novels as a novelist, including Phool Ke Saye, Ek Aurat Hazar Marhaley, and Dard-e-Dil Aur Khalish, among others. In 1981, he received the Special Nigar Award for 30 years of distinction in Pakistani cinema.
