Shahid Afridi, the all-rounder for Pakistan, is one of the most fascinating players. He joined the Pakistan One-Day International team when he was just 16 years old and was unaffected by the rumors about his actual age. He reached his century off of 37 balls in just his second One-Day International, which took place in 1996 against Sri Lanka. He is an all-rounder and is well-known for his aggressive right-handed batting. He uses speed changes in bowling that are much more effective than spinning the ball. His record for acquiring a century is only 37 balls which later was broken by AB de Villiers. Afridi is the current holder of the greatest amount of sixes ever scored in One-Day International cricket. His career strike rate is very certainly the highest of all time.
He had a successful test career till 2006, after which he decided to focus on his limited-overs career and hence retired from the format. In 2010, he captained the team with an unforgettable performance by completing only one test. Shahid also has scored two fastest ODI hundreds. In July 2010, he announced that he would take retirement from test cricket. Afridi decided to take retirement from all forms of cricket after the One-day International World Cup in 2015. After being active in sports and games, he finally took his retirement in the year 2017. His professional life spanned 21 fruitful years in which he had his share of highs and lows.
