Faiza Saleem also known as ‘’Liza M’’ is a lawyer turned comedian who is one of the most notable artists. She is the first social media comic in the country to make the transition to stand-up comedy. She is also the founder of South Asia’s first all-girl comedy troop, The Khawatoons who she not only scouted but also trained for local and international performances. Faiza has been raised in Karachi and has spent a good number of years in Germany, she is the youngest of her four siblings. She obtained LLB degree from Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology, SZABIST, Islamabad, and she first joined the legal department as head of a public policy research organization before venturing in humour business. Her comedy started from the Pseudo Burger Diaries content, composing memes and other funny stuff. She became overnight famous with her first video Baji…eww showing the cultural differences between two areas of Karachi namely Defence and Nazimabad. She has always made jokes that touch on societal standards including gender roles and shaming of plus sized ladies. She subsequently joined an improv troupe, The Platoon, at the AspectRatio Democratic Theatre and commenced doing stand-up comedy. Making a transit from drama to television serial she worked in Dildaariyaan as Rashk-e-Qamar for which she received immense appreciation, apart from this she has done cameo role in the film Parchi in which she portray the character of Faiza Saleem affectionately known as Sumaira Khanjarwali. Also she is busy hosting and producing interview based web series such as – Doodhpatti with Dadi and 2 Minutes with Faiza Saleem. Faiza Saleem’s fearlessness, rib-tickling humour, and not shying away from taboo topics make her a household name in Pakistan and an icon for composite female comedians.
