Jameel Bismil is a Pakistani actor, director, and theatre artist. He was born in Meerut, India in 1942. After India’s independence in 1947, his family migrated to Pakistan. Bismil was one of the dedicated artists who associated himself with theatres all his life. People consider him the pioneer of theatres in Pakistan. Bismil wrote 60 plays in his whole career. Contributing to his creative talent, he performed in almost 600 stage plays. He did 360-stage plays as well. His first film role was in the Urdu film Dhoop Aur Saye (1968). Khan earned a Filmfare nomination in the Best Supporting Actor category for the Qurbani film. Bismil’s House Ful was one of the best plays of his career. It earned him a lot of recognition and praise. The inspiring play was about population planning. He not only acted in films and plays but also produced some films. He was the producer of the documentary film Sool. This documentary about drugs was one of the best art films in contemporary times. Unfortunately, the veteran artist died at 63 on May 12, 2005. The talented artist even worked until his death. He reportedly submitted a script to a TV channel the day before his death. Bismil died of a heart attack, leaving his legacy to the Pakistan films and theatres.
