Nirmiti Sawant is an actress who acts mainly in Marathi television serials, dramas, and films. She became famous and known through her role in the Marathi television series "Kumari Gangubai Non-Matric”, in which she portrayed a high-school dropout woman. She was offered roles in many films after the TV series and she acted in many Marathi movies and theatre plays later. She got significant roles in all the movies that followed and her reputation increased in the industry and she was considered as an actor who gave natural performances in the films. The Marathi film “Jau Bai Jorat” gave her a chance to portray a comedy character and her performance received positive reviews from the critics and the audience.

She was invited to judge a Marathi comedy reality show named “Fu Bai Fu” in the channel Zee Marathi after seeing her role in the movie “Jau Bai Jorat”. Controversy followed her after the producers of the 2014 Marathi film “Akalptih” accused her of being unprofessional. The makers alleged that she forced them to give the lead role in the film to her son while they had someone else in their mind. She has also campaigned for the Shiv Sena candidate Kiran Pandav from Nagpur during the 2014 Lok Sabha election
