Marathi Producer Sameeran Walvekar

Dr Sameeran Walvekar was born on 10 January 1964. He is an experienced and renowned expert in Electronic Media and Mass Communication. With a doctorate in communication science in 2008, he completed his communication research. His work experience is more than thirty years. He has served with many satellite national news and educational channels like Doordarshan, Zee TV, NDTV, Saam TV, and Jay Maharashtra in senior positions like Executive Producer, Special Correspondent, and Editor-in-chief. He is a former IIS (Indian Information Service, Government of India) Information Officer in PIB, Mumbai. DR Walvekar has a long list of work experience, including being a former director at the Educational Multimedia Research Centre, Pune, under UGC.

He has directed short films, advertisements commercials, TV Serials, and documentaries. He has anchored more than 2500 episodes of TV newscasts and programs in Marathi, Hindi, and English on eight satellite TV channels since 1990. His TV series Raag Ranjan on Indian classical music received the National Award of UGC for best educational series. He has written three books, including one fiction novel and one on TV journalism. He has received the Maharashtra Times Award and the Varunraj Bhide Award for excellence in TV anchoring and his contribution to journalism.
