Marya Shakil is an Indian journalist, political editor, and senior anchor on CNN-News18. She was born and raised in Patna, Bihar, India. Her father, Shakil Ahmad Khan, was a politician. She completed her Masters in Mass Communication from Jamia Millia Islamia in 2005. She is married to Irfan Khan, the founder of Blog Mint company. Her career began when she joined CNN-IBN in 2005. In 2008, she worked on a documentary on the Bihar flood. In 2012, she hosted the show, ‘The Muslim Manifesto', which documented the layers of change in the Muslim community.
She has also volunteered as the monitoring evaluation officer for UNICEF. She won the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Award for Best political journalist in 2012. She also won the Chevening South Asia journalism fellowship in 2016. Her show 'The News Epicentre' has won multiple ENBA and News Television awards. She also bagged two best anchor awards.
