Nandkishore Kapote is a famous Indian Kathak dancer. He specialises in the Lucknow Gharana style of Kathak. He also works as a Kathak exponent, choreographer, Kathak dance teacher, and educationist. He was born on 10th August 1956, in Tilak Nagar, Mumbai, Maharashtra and has worked in the field for over thirty-five years. He completed his schooling in Modern High School, Pune and Dahanuka Vidyalaya in Tilaknagar. Kapote pursued undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in B Com and MA in Kathak from the Modern College University of Pune. He has a doctorate from Tilak Maharashtra University. He is currently located in Pune, Maharashtra and works with the Nandkishore Cultural Society, which was started by himself in 1983, as an artistic director.

Nandkishore is an empanelled member of the ICCR. Some of the famous stage performances that brought Nandkishore to the limelight are Ekta Ki Awaaz, Narvar Krishna Saman, Habba Khatun, Maha Manav, Krishnayan, Mrutyunjay Mahaveer, Mahakaleshwar Shiva, and Hori Dhoom Macho Ri. Kapote has worked with Savitribai Phule Pune University’s Centre for Performing Arts, i.e, Lalit Kala Kendra and Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth. Nandkishore Kapote authored the reference book on Kathak as an art form, Kathak Samrat - Pt. Birju Maharaj. He also wrote Nritya Samrat Pt Birju Maharaj and co-wrote Voleum 1 of the Encyclopaedic Profile of Indian Tribes.

He has received multiple awards for his works and performances such as the Senior Fellowship Award in 2015 from the Union Ministry of Culture, the Chitrakarmi Award in 2017 from Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal, the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Dalit Mitra Award in 2010 from the Government of Maharashtra, the Krantiveer Gaurav Award from Krantiveer Mitra Mandal, the Sringar Mani Award from the Union Ministry of Culture, the cultural department of Maharashtra State Award in 2004, the Balgandharva Award from PMC, the Nehru Award, the Pune Navratri Mahotsav Awards, the Salaam Pune Award in 2015, Late Ashok Paranjape Smruti Award in 2019 from Lokrang Sanskrutik Manch Thane in 2019, Chitra Karmi Award from Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal in 2017, the Maharashtra State Cultural Award in 2003 by Sushil Kumar Shinde, and Kala Gaurav Award by MLA Shri Laxman Jagtap in 2018 among many others. The award that brought the most attention was the National Scholarship in 2015 from the Union Cultural Department.
