Nikhil is a cinematographer and filmmaker from Mumbai. He has more than 8 years of experience in the film industry. He graduated in Microbiology from the University of Mumbai. He is an alumnus of the ‘Digital Academy: The Film School’ in Mumbai, where he focused on cinematography. He has worked for a company in Dubai called Hug Digital. He has served as the Director of Photography (DOP) for the international music video brand Purplehead. Cariappa is known for his film-specific photography, color correction and VFX. He has experience in various jobs, ranging from pre-production to reviewing the final footage.

In the early years of his career, he worked as a camera assistant at well-known companies such as Star India and Sahara One. His documentary has won the Best Documentary Award from TIFF. He is known for Goan Ale Gotyat 15 lakh Khatayat (2022), Kyu Na Aaye (2022) and Verdict (2019). He has also worked as a cinematographer at Cinemonkz, where he helped release the movie The Easy Girl, which was popular on social media. He also worked as a cinematographer at UD’s Entertainment, focussing on horror movies for YouTube. He has worked on projects like commercial ads and government projects. Cariappa was also a camera operator at BIG MAGIC. He has also shot a corporate film for the DEIF Company.
