Suraj is an Indian actor who works in Marathi cinema. He hails from Pophalaj village in Karmala taluka of Solapur district of Maharashtra. After losing his parents he lived with Nagraj Manjule’s family in Pune for 9-10 years. He made his first acting career appearance in Nagraj Manjule's short film Pistulya in 2009. This role was offered to him when Nagraj Manjule visited his school in Karmala. For his outstanding performance he was awarded the National Film Award in the ‘Best Child Actor’ category. Then, he featured in several Marathi movies. In 2013, he got his first lead role in Fandry, co-starring Somnath Awgadhe. He got the breakthrough of his career with Sairat (2016), in which he played the role of Prince, which gained him popularity among the public.
