He was the lead actor in Ratan Manjari, worked in many silent stunt films, and became a famous actor. He was the lead actor in Alam Ara. He directed two films and gave music to one movie. He acted in 90 films in his 42-year film career, from 1924 to 1966. Vithal made his first debut in his childhood with Raja Pur Ka Natak Mandali. He started his film career as an editor. His role in his first film was as a female dancer in Kalyan Khajina. It was a silent-era film which was directed by the painter. In the 1930s, Vithal gained fame in Marathi films, and people started recognizing him.
