She also acted as the mother of Katrina Kaif in the movie ' Mere Brother Ki Dulhan' on accodue to theirsimilarity. She has been in the profession of acting for more than 20 years and has acted in many films and TV serials. She was born in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh and received her education from Mount Carmel in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. She started her career as a model and slowly switched over to acting in movies and TV serials. She also worked as an air hostess for some time.

She was seen in movies like Kya Super KoolHain Ham, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Hot Friends, Nani Detective and Gupt. She was first noticed on the television screen as Ila, the mother of ArmaanSuri (played by ApurvaAgnihotri), the male protagonist in the extremely popular TV serial of Sony TV, 'Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin' and soon established herself as a renowned actress in supporting roles. She was again seen in the Sony TV serial,AisaDeshHaiMera in 2006 where she acted as the aunt of female protagonist Rusty Deol. Her acting again set a new benchmark in supporting roles.

She also played the role of Kamini, the mother of Rahul, the male lead in Star Plus hit serial Miilee during 2006. She also produced a show for Hungama TV. She further performed in Sahara One dance reality show Saas v/s Bahu with BarkhaBisht, her on screen bahu from the serial DoliSajake, which aired on Sahara One during 2007-09. She is married to Rajiv Vyas. Apart from acting, she is also engaged in the business of home accessories.
