Asheish Nijhawan was born on 15 October 1990 in Shrinagar, Kashmir. His family had to relocate to Jammu during The Mass Exodus of Kashmiri Hindus during 1990; This left a great impact on Asheish's mind.

Before he started Theater, he was involved with Painting. In the year 2000, he joined the Natrang theatre group in Jammu and later the Asmita theater group in Delhi.

After doing his Bachelors of Science in Information Technology in 2005, he applied for Post-Graduate Degree with National School of Drama (Acting) but he was initially rejected by National School of Drama.

But his hard work paid off as he finally got selected the Next year. During his Post-Graduate, he created a solo performance art piece on the insurgency and migration of Kashmiri Hindus from Kashmir Valley to refugee camps. He named this play "Frozen Turbulence."

He completed his Post-Graduate in the year 2009. In 2012, he Designed and Directed one more play based on the insurgency and migration of Kashmiri Hindus from Kashmir Valley to refugee camps.

He named this play "Frozen Dreams." During these years, he participated in various international theatre festivals and later went to London International School of Performing Arts, London, in the year 2012.

He is mostly known because of his portrayal of Aftab Khalid in the Netflix series Bard Of Blood (2019). He is receiving the thunderous accolades and praises from the critics, film fraternity as well as common masses.

He is also known for working as "Assistant's Director" to Director Akshat Verma for the movie ‘Kaalakaandi’ (2017). He has worked with well-known Directors like Anuradha Kapoor, Ovliyakuli Khodhyakuli (Uzbekistan), Michal Brown(USA), Amy Russel(UK), Abhilash Pillai, Mfundo Tshazibane (South Africa), Ranjit Kapoor, Ram Gopal Bajaj, Balwant Thakur, Robin Das, Tripurari Sharma, D.R.Ankur, Bhanu Bharati, Rajendra Nath, C.R.Jambe, K.S.Rajendran, Hema Singh and Arvind Gaur.

He directed his first play in 2006 named "Laalach Buri Bala Hai." His other plays include Aayee Jammu Kashmir Ahai, Aalav, Bohraan - a Kashmiri play on Rabindranath Tagore's last speech Crisis in Civilization, Shakespeare's Richard the III, etc.
