Reshma Pathan, aka Sholay Girl, is the first stunt performer in the Indian film industry. She is an actress, too. Reshma is married to Shakoor Pathan, a stunt director. She has a son, who is a doctor by profession. Reshma also raised her sister’s sons: one is an engineer, and the other is a manager in an automobile company. Reshma has worked in more than 400 films and has done 1000+ risky fight sequences. She is the first woman to become the Movie Stunt Artists Association’s member.
Reshma started her career as a stunt double when she was just 14. The stunt choreographer, S Azim, offered her to play the body double for Laxmi Chaya for the movie Ek Khiladi Bawan Patte in 1972. She became popular after playing the body double for Hema Malini Hema Malini is perhaps the only dream girl of the >> Read More... in “Sholay.” In the ‘70s and ‘80s, Reshma had been the stunt double for almost all the leading Bollywood heroines, including Waheeda Rahman, “Sridevi,” “Rekha,” Meenakshi Sheshadri, and Dimple Kapadia.
Besides Bollywood films, Reshma has worked in the Bhojpuri film industry and some South Indian movies. In 2019, her biopic, The Sholay Girl, was made with Bidita Baig as the lead, and it was streamed on Zee 5 on 8th March 2019, International Women’s Day. At the Critics Choice Film Awards, Reshma was honoured with the Extraordinary Achievement Award.
