Born on 27th July 1937 in the village Dilip Nagar in the Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh, Ravi Chaturvedi was an Indian sports commentator. Ravi Chaturvedi also authored twenty-seven books on cricket. “World Cup Cricket: A Compendium” is one of the most popular books he has written. He was also an academic scholar. He completed his master’s degree in zoology with a specialization in Fisheries from Delhi University, a Diploma in Microbiology from the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, Tissue Culture Training from the University of Windsor, Canada, and a Ph.D. in Cricket from CSJM University of Kanpur.
He made his debut as the first Hindi Commentator on All India Radio in 1961. Over the years, he covered 112 tests and 220 ODIs. He was also associated with significant sports channels, including Star Sports, ESPN, Nimbus Sports, Doordarshan, Sab TV, etc. He received one of the most prestigious awards in India, the Padma Shri, in 2012. He has won several other state and national awards too.
