Sreejita Kar

Sreejita Kar is an Indian / Hindi singer known for “Indian Idol 4,” an Indian version of the ‘Pop Idol’ format that has aired on ‘Sony Entertainment television’ since 2004. She hails from Jamshedpur, Jaipur, India. Currently, Sreejita Kar is residing in Kolkata, India. She has been in this field for twenty-three years now, has been learning Indian classical music from the age of five. She has participated in various musical contests and has a strong base & understanding of art. Sreejita received her ‘Sangeet Prabhakar degree’ and ‘Sangeet Visharad’ from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, Mumbai, India.

Her favourite food is Chinese and Bengali prawns. At the age of eight, Sreejita learned Hindustani classical music and trained for seven years under Ajay Sen Choudhary. She was preparing for her Class XII board exams when the auditions for Indian Idol 4 were happening in Calcutta, the same city she lived in at that time. Her father and mother ‘Vinita Kar’ insisted her to give the audition. At first, she refused to focus on her XII board exams but later decided to give it a shot.

Sreejita’s parents gave her enough support needed to her in every way possible. Her mother even took her support to her social media, writing, “Every time talented singers from the city lose out when it comes to the number of votes. I believe, more than my daughter I am the one who is getting more and more tensed,” asking for the people’s votes in the region and throughout the state, hoping to affect her daughter’s career of making it to the top. In 2015, Sreejita made a cover of the song ‘Kehna hi kya.’
