Jay Mehta launched his career with a well-known director Priyadarshan, who cast him in a film called ' Muskurahat Muskurahat is a Hind TV serial. It aired on the DD >> Read More... ,' a romantic comedy, in the leading role of Pritam. He starred opposite Revathi, who played the love interest of Pritam in the role of Nandini. 

The film was produced by Jay Mehta’s father, Pranlal V. Mehta and was released in 1992.  It was the Hindi remake of the blockbuster Malayalam-language cult-hit, 'Kilukkam,' a musical rom-com which was also directed by Priyadarshan, and ran for more than 365 days in theatres.

Unfortunately, the film failed to make a key impression at the box office in Bollywood, putting a setback in Mehta’s career, which was just on the first steps of his acting days.

After this setback, Mehta didn't lose hope and worked hard to act in films, bagging significant roles in films such as the historical film 'Betaaj Badshah' (showcasing  Arjun Balwant Rai, released in 1994), and the action film 'Mafia' (portraying Jai Singh, released in 1996).

The other films he acted in include, 'Policewala Gunda' in 1995, 'Jeeo Shaan Se' in 1997, and ' Zid Click to look into! >> Read More... ' in 1994. However, unfortunately, these films failed to produce enough buzz at the box office, which led to Mehta permanently wrapping up his career as an actor once and for all.

Although he had decided to leave his acting days behind, he did not disappear from the film industry. Jay Mehta followed the footsteps of his father and brother and decided to become a producer instead. He has then produced many successful films, and his credits include being the associate producer of the cult-hit and critically acclaimed drama film, ' I Am Click to look into! >> Read More... ,' which was directed by the well-known director Onir, and was released in 2010.

His other credits include producing films such as 'Tarkieb' (2000), ' 100 Days 100 Days is a thriller crime series, unfolding a l >> Read More... ' (1991), 'Jawani Zindabad' (1990), and 'Woh Phir Aayegi' (1998). He has even produced the popular TV series, 'Ardhangini - Ek Khoobsurat Jeevansathi,' which ran from 2008 to 2009. Jay Mehta continues to make a mark with his work from behind the scenes.
