Subbiraj

Subbiraj is an Indian actor well-known for his acting in the Hindi Cinema as a character artist. He is well-known for his acting in the movie named as “Ek Ruka Hua Faisla,” in which he has acted in the role of “Juror no Ten” as an arrogant, hypocrite, foul-mouthed, and aggressive businessman. This film was the remake of Sydney Lumet movie “Twelve Angry Men.” He got the acclamation of both the critics and the audience for his acting in this movie.

Some of his other popular films are “Khiladi 420” in 2000, “International Khiladi” in 1999, “Ram Aur Shyam” in 1996, etc. Subbiraj was related to the most prominent Indian family with a long history of Bollywood cinema, the great Kapoor family. He was the son of the sister of Prithviraj Kapoor and the cousin of Raj Kapoor. His father was Kailash Kapoor and mother was Shanta Kapoor. He married to the actress Baby Naaz, the Boot Polish fame, a classic of Raj Kapoor in 1965. They have two sons who are not related to the Film Industry. Subbiraj passed away in July 2007. Baby Naaz died before him in 1995. Subbiraj was popular in other names such as Subhi Raj, Subiraj, Suvi Raj, Suberaj, etc.

He started his career in the film “Sehar Aur Sapna” by the famous director K. A. Abbas. But his debut film was “Do Gunde.” At that time he was working as the Studio Manager of famous R.K.Studio of Kapoor family. But he continued his journey of acting simultaneously. He acted more than Ninety movies, and in each movie, he appeared as a character artist. He featured as a Police Commissioner in more than ten movies, and as a judge in eight movies. In most of the films, he performed the role of a disciplined father or a father-in-law. His wife Naaz was his co-star in two of his movies are “Dekha Pyaar Tumhara” in 1963 and “Mera Ghar Mere Bachhe” in 1965.

He has worked with almost all the renowned film directors of Hindi cinema such as “Basu Chatterjee,” “Dev Anand,” “Santosh Peepat,” “Shomu Mukherjee,” “Kewal Sharma,” etc. But he became popular in the movie “Ek Ruka Hua Faisla” in 1986. In 1991 he featured in another movie named as “Maa Ki Mamta” which was also a big hit. Some other films of Subbiraj are “Muqaddar Ka Faisla,” “Awwal Number,” “Agni Sakshi,” “Sanam Teri Kasam,” “Pasand Apni Apni,” “Gunahon Ka Devta,” etc. In 1996 he acted in the movies like “Be Lagaam,” “Ek Ladka Ek Ladki,” “Ram Aur Shyam,” etc. From 1999 he acted in some popularTV Serials. The popular soap operas of Subbiraj are “Virasat” in 1999, “Chattan” in 2000, and “Ek Nayee Ummid Roshni – Season 2” on the channel “Life OK.” Subbiraj acted in more than 15 serials. He has also performed in sixteen movie songs as an actor. He continued his acting career till his death.
