Ranjan Sehgal

Ranjan Sehgal is a well-known Punjabi actor. He has been seen in Punjabi movies like Mahi NRI (2017), Yaaran Da Katchup (2014) and has also worked in Bollywood movie ‘Sarbjit (2016).’ However, he got his popularity from television show Rishton Se Badi…Pratha (Colours Channel) and many other television shows. Ranjan Sehgal is basically from Chandigarh, Punjab. He has done his schooling from Govt. Model Senior Secondary School and Modern ways Adarsh High School. After that, he pursued his College degree from Post Graduate Government College (PGGC), Chandigarh. During this time, he realized about his inclination towards acting and thus joined M.A. in Theatre from Punjab University in the year 2006. He also joined Indian Theatre, Punjab University in the same year. He got his master’s degree in 2008 and left Indian Theatre in 2009. It was then when the actual struggling period in the industry started for Ranjan Sehgal. His siblings, elder brother Vishal Sehgal and sister Sangeeta Kaushal have always been a constant support system in his endeavour to make a mark in the industry. In the year 2013, Ranjan Sehgal got engaged to Nivya Chhabra who is a professional costume designer and they tied the knot on 24 February 2014. Both of them first met on the set of a Punjabi serial.

Nivya and Ranjan have also seen working together in the Life OK channel television show Tum Dena Saath Mera. Ranjan has been a part of theater for many years in Chandigarh and acted in several plays like Tughlaq. He was also seen in a Punjabi serial named Chadya Chann Samundran Paar in the year 2007. He moved to Mumbai in the year 2009 to try his luck in television and film industry but had to start from the scratch. He played small and insignificant roles in serials like Crime Patrol, Bhagya, Sabki Ladli Bebo and Rishta.com to earn his living.

Ranjan also worked as a mimicry artist. He got his first big career break from the Colours television show Rishton se badi…Pratha. This serial gave him recognition as an actor. After that he was seen in many television shows like Tum dena sath mera, Gustakh dil, Bhawar and Jaane kya hoga rama re and the recent show named Kuldeepak on “&tv” channel. He has also acted in Punjabi movies like Mahi NRI, Aatishbaazi ishq, Yaaran da katchup, Pied piper & Bollywood movie Sarbjit. Apart from television shows and movies Ranjan was also seen in television commercials (Honda CD Deluxe, Avadh utopia club, HPL wires and promo for ABP news channel), plays (Smart City and 59min 60 sec), web series (Barbar lagataar), short story (Chai coffee) and short film for VOGUE empower named as ‘Going home’ in which he shared the screen with Alia Bhatt Alia Bhatt is a trendsetting actress from Mumbai, >> Read More... . Besides acting Ranjan Sehgal has also been part of writing and direction. He has written some quotes and short films like Last Day and Fading Steps are written and directed by him. Ranjan Sehgal’s passion for acting has made him come this far in the industry but he wants to act in Hollywood movies and win an Oscar. This personifies his enthusiasm and dedication for his work.
