Ankit Thapa is a freelance Filmmaker, Audio Artist, Music Producer, Sound Artist, Photographer, and Cinematographer from Dehradun, Uttarakhand. He completed his schooling at Cambrian Hall and The Asian School in 2007. In 2012, Ankit graduated from Uttarakhand Technical University with a bachelor’s in technology in Computer Science and Engineering. After completing his undergraduate, he did his postgraduate from the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, where he studied Sound Recording and Sound Design. For the past three years, he has been freelancing primarily with independent and regional artists as a Sound Recorder and Designer.
From 2009-2012, he was a guitarist in the band ‘Collapsion’ after which he joined the band ‘RudraNath’ where he was a guitarist from 2012-2013 until he left and finally joined his current band- ‘Looking Glass’ in 2017 and has the position of the guitarist, the composer, and the vocalist. In the year 2019, Ankit worked on a film called ‘Wet Blue Tarpaulin’ which is about a man from Assam working in Maharashtra who encounters a foreign city when he is asked to get a fake ID card made to continue his job. This film was directed by Anunay Barbhuiya and Ankit worked in it as the Sound Recorder and Designer.
