Ajay Paralkar is a Mumbai-based freelance editor. His birthday falls on 22nd January. He did his schooling at Modern English School, Mumbai, India. He then studied Animation and Visual Arts along with Philosophy at Ramnarain Ruia College. He is a 1991 graduate and has since been involved with editing. In 2007, he did a course with Autodesk in Visual Effects for two years. Ajay started his editing career in 1996 and has since been involved with many short and long-term projects. He worked for Avid and FCP Offline from 1996 to edit films. He has also done ad film editing on various platforms. He was chosen by many Indian and International brands to ideate the ads and edit them by making them eye-catching and informative.
In 2009, he got a deal from the Jaquar Group to showcase their products in a video ad. He edited the video and made it to a 40sec ad on the television. Likewise, he got the chance to ideate and edit many ad films, such as Veet, Dabur, Nerolac, Colgate, Pepsodent, Fair & Lovely, Tropicana, Fanta, etc. All the ads for these products were once very famous because of their editing skills and presentable style. He is also mostly known for his work in “The Pink Mirror (Gulabi Aaina)” (2003), the first-ever film to focus on Indian transgender people. But as soon as the movie got released, the Central Board of Film Certification banned the film, citing it to be vulgar and offensive. Although the film remained banned in India, it had been screened at various international film festivals and won awards. Ajay has been working with Smoke Online to edit ad films since 2019, and he now takes only ad films projects and compose the theme.
