He wanted his son to become a lawyer also, but Sudhendu Roy has other plans, so he took admission fees as the name of joining the law college and thereby running away from home. Sudhendu Roy wins three Filmfare awards for best art direction for the movies Madhumati (1959), Mere Mehboob (1964), and Sagina (1975). Films directed by Sudhendu Roy are Uphaar (1971), Saudagar (1973), Sweekar (1973), Jeevan Mukt (1977), and Aap ki Khatir. Films directed by Sudhendu Roy as an art director are Anjangarh (1948), Biraj Bahu (1954), Madhumati (1958), Parakh (1969), Arzoo (1965), Bidaai (1974), and many more. Sudhendu Roy passed away in 1999 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.
