Oorvazi Irani is a Mumbai-based filmmaker who works independently. She is also a filmmaker, an acting teacher, a film critic, and the Director of SBI Impresario Pvt. Ltd, a home production business founded by her father Sorab Irani in 1975. She is currently directing The Path of Zarathustra, a Parsi film. In addition, she has produced two short films, "The K File" and "Mamaiji" (Grandmother). She teaches cinema at the SVKM J.V. Parekh International School in Mumbai, India, and offers a special invitation to a guest lecturer at several famous film colleges.
Her DVD, which she researched, presented, directed, and co-produced, just introduced the Michael Chekhov Acting Technique to India. She earned her bachelor's degree in arts from Mumbai's Jai Hind College. She then completed the FTII & NFAI Film Appreciation Course for teachers and the Online Teacher's IB Film Course. She began aiding her father on a travelogue series called "Ramayana a Journey" that he was creating for Channel Four Television in London during her undergraduate years. The idea behind this film was to recreate Lord Rama's journey from Ayodhya to Lanka.
Oorvazi became the project's head of research and also assisted in its direction. It took three years to complete and was released in 1997. Oorvazi began her career as the Director of SBI Impresario Pvt. Ltd., a home media production company founded by her father in 1975. She has worked on internationally critically acclaimed film projects in research, production, and direction with her company. In addition to running the home production company, Oorvazi also became a film educator. She is currently in charge of the film department at the SVKM J.V.Parekh International School. She has also taught Film Appreciation modules at several prestigious institutions, including the Mumbai University Post Graduate One Year Diploma Course in Film and Television, The Digital Academy Film School Mumbai, Kishore Namit Kapoor Acting Institute, The Institute of Creative Excellence – ICE, Balaji Telefilm's Education division.
Oorvazi Irani is an Indian filmmaker, acting coach, and the founder of SBI Impresario Pvt. Ltd., her own production business, and she received her education at the FTII in Pune. Her directorial debut was with Ramayana: A Journey, a travelogue series (1997). Following that, she appeared in Lord Ganesha the Elephant Head God (1998), Mamaiji (2011), The Michael Chekhov Acting Technique (2011), and The K File (2011). (2013). The Path of Zarathustra hit the theatres in 2015.
