Bappaditya Roy

Bappaditya Roy is an Indian director. He works in the Hindi film industry. He was born on the 16th of March 1971 in Kolkata, India. In the National Institute Of Design he studied visual communication and got a specialization in film and video, it is India’s prestigious design school. It was a docudrama and its duration was fifty-minute, focused on the brilliance of Naseeruddin Shah. The docudrama was premiered on Doordarshan. In 2005, Sau Jhooth Ek Sach was the first feature film that was directed by him. Sau Jhooth Ek Sach received 2nd prize at the Lyon Film Festival in France.

Besides making movies, Bappaditya Roy has a great interest in social communication. The result is a lot of shorts on social issues partnering NGOs for the making. In 2007, his ad film on domestic violence won the silver medal at the Ad Film Fest 2007. He made a film for Help Age India, which also won him a silver medal from the Indian Documentary Producers Association the same year. His promos for Star Plus and Ogilvy won gold under the Best Reality Promo category at the Promax BDA Awards in 2010. He is an art director and worked with Lowe and Ogilvy, making TVCs for more than two decades. Even in 2025, he works for TVCs for big brands.
