Annie Zaidi is an Indian Writer and Short Film Director. She hails from Sirohi District, Rajasthan, and then moved to Mumbai and did her graduation in Journalism at the Xavier Institute of Communication. Annie Zaidi fills in as a Freelance Writer and pens over several styles, including reportage, fiction, film, dramatization, and comics. Annie's best-known books are Gulab (an anthology of short stories, Love stories # 1 to 14), Known Turf: Bantering with Bandits and Other True Tales, Sleep Tight, etc. Her book, Known Turf, shortlisted at the 2010 Crossword book Awards in the Non-Fiction category.
Annie Zaidi won the 2011 BBC International Playwriting Competition for her radio play, Jam. She won the 2018 Hindu Playwright award for her play, Untitled- 1. She also won the 2019 Nine Dots Prize award for her essay, 'Bread, Cement, and Cactus.' Annie Zaidi also made a documentary, In her Words: The Journey of Indian Women, and co-written, The Good Indian Girl and also edited, Unbound: 2000 Years of Indian Women's Writing. She made her short film debut in the year 2012. Her first short film name is Ek Red Color Ki Love Story. She also directed short films like Engine, Ek Bahut Hi Choti Love Story, Butnama, etc. Annie Zaidi supported by Director Sriram Ragavan, directed a short film, Decibel, for HumaraMovies. Decibel is one of seven short films that comprise one feature film Shor Se Shuruaat (2016).
