Ambar Chakravarty is a Mumbai-based filmmaker who has directed many award-winning quality films. He has also worked as a firefighter, salesman, communicator, and brand builder over his career and has an experience of over 20 years.

After completing his schooling, Ambar got himself enrolled as a Journalism student at Delhi University. He graduated with a Bachelor’s (Honors) degree in 1999 and got into Xavier’s Institute of Communication to pursue his post-graduation in Film and T.V Production.

Ambar started his career as an intern in Trikaya Grey (now known as Grey) in 1999. Afterward, he worked for Jet Airways in the Network Advertising department for a brief period. He started working with the reputed Saatchi & Saatchi later in the same year. He was appointed at the Mumbai office first, in the job of Copywriter, and then worked at the Bengaluru office. He was promoted to the designation of Senior Copywriter within a brief stint of nearly two years. Here, he worked on accounts of brands such as Head & Shoulders, Ariel, and BPL Ltd. In July 2001, he got into a job as Creative Supervisor at Rediffusion Y&R, he moved to Delhi. He got the chance to work on brands like Maruti Suzuki and Airtel, before hopping onto the position of Creative Group Head at Mudra in 2002. Within a span of two years, he worked on many brands of good repute like Dabur, McDonalds, Samsung, etc. He quit the job in 2004 and began working as the creative team leader at McCann Erickson India Pvt. Ltd., in Mumbai, but ranked himself up to the position of Creative Director by going all out. He worked on different brands like Coca-Cola, Parachute Advanced, Barclays Bank, Radio Mirchi, etc. He was appointed as the Executive Creative Director at the Publicis Groupe in 2007, and worked there for a period of 3 years. In 2011, he co-founded an advertising company called The Atomic Advertising Company in Mumbai and is the Director and Creative Head. The company has been associated with brands like The Times of India, Navbharat Times, Lenovo India, and many other immensely popular brands. He is also the Director and Creative Head at Addict Studios India.

Ambar has preserved an absolute love for filmmaking throughout his career days. He wrote and directed the 2018 T.V series ‘Love Handles,’ which got around 600K+ views on YouTube. He wrote and directed the music video, #PuraanaPyaar in the same year, which had around 4 million views, and was a success. The video reaped numerous awards and nominations. It was Filmfare nominated for the Best Short film, received CICFF Outstanding Achievement Award 2018 for short film direction, was the official selection for the Best Short film in the South Asian International Film Festival 2018, and for the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival 2019. In 2020, he wrote and directed the T.V series, Offbeats, which had more than a million views on YouTube. He is multilingual and can speak English, Hindi, and Bengali proficiently.
