Queen Harish is a folk dancer and Drag Queen from Rajasthan, India, who worked towards reviving Rajasthani folk dances through Drag. He was born in 1979 in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, in a carpenter family belonging to the Suthar community. He shot to fame in 2010 as a semi-finalist in the popular reality TV show "India's Got Talent." His dance form included various Rajasthani folk dance forms such as Bhawai, Ghoomar, Chang, Chari, and Kalbelia. Harish started dancing at the age of 13 to support his sisters after his parents died. He started learning drag dancing under "Annu Master," the first drag dancer in Jaisalmer. He began dancing at hotels to earn petty cash to earn his living and chose his name after being inspired by the Drag Queen culture abroad.
After his rise in fame after appearing in India's Got Talent, he started performing nationally and internationally and has performed in more than 60 countries. His performance at the Jaipur Literary Fest was one of the highlights there. Hariah appeared in the film "Jai Gangajal" in 2016 and performed alongside a 40-member ensemble. He has also appeared in "Appudappudu" and "The Accidental Prime Minister." He appeared in the American documentary "When the Road Bends... Tales of a Gipsy Caravan" by Jasmine Dellal in 2007.
He ran The Queen Harish show, a regular evening spectacle in Jaisalmer, in association with the Rajasthani government. Harish was also a renowned choreographer with over 2000 students under him from Japan alone. Queen Harish died on 2nd June 2019 in a road accident in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. He was 39 years old, and his demise was mourned across the country, including by the Chief Minister of Rajasthan. He left behind his wife and two sons.
