Gurlej Akhtar is a playback singer, music artist, and performer in Punjabi movies. She was born on March 3, 1987. Gurlej Akhtar’s place of birth is Ludhiana, Punjab, India. She completed her secondary education at Government Higher Secondary School, Silattur. After that, she went to Punjabi University, Patiala, to pursue graduation. Her hobbies are dancing, singing, writing, and cooking. Her father was also a professional singer. Her mother’s name is Rani Akhtar. She has a younger sister named Jasmine Akhtar, also a singer. She has three brothers, namely Shahnaz Akhtar, Sahil Akhtar, and Dilshaad Akhtar. All his brothers are Sufi vocalists. She married Kulwinder Kally, with whom she has a son, named Daanveer Singh. She settled in Houston, Texas, USA.

Gurlej Akhtar was raised in a singing family, which arose her interest in singing. Initially, she struggled in bringing up her career due to her father’s death. Gurlej Akhtar used to perform at colleges, weddings, and local events for the money. Also, she started singing in stage shows and theatrical concerts, from which she got fame. At this time, she was just in the eighth standard. She began her singing career as a duet with Sukhwinder Sukhi, a Punjabi singer, in 2004. Likewise, she marked her singing debut on the album, titled “Sharif Munda.”

Followed by these, she has sung many Punjabi songs in the super hit Punjabi movies, such as Jitne Mera Dil Luteya (2011), Punjab Bolda, Carry on Jatta, Hashar (2006), Ardaas (2016), and so more. She has sung many famous songs, including Love Letter, Bhari, Feel, Jagirdaar, 25 Pind, Facebook Wali, Fitteh Moo, Nai Shad Da, etc. She has recorded over 600 songs. Also, she is known as the “Duet Queen.” Therefore, she used to give live performances with her Punjabi singer husband, Kulwinder Kally. Also, she has been invited to the United States, Australia, and Canada for live stage performances. Furthermore, she has worked with other Punjabi singers like Babbal Rai, Garry Sandhu, Harf Cheema, Geeta Zaildar, The Landers, etc.
