She received primary education at a government school in Deoria, Bhatpar Rani, Uttar Pradesh. After that, she moved to Chapra, Siwan, for further studies. Her most outstanding teacher of all time is Ramanand Swami from Siwan, Bihar. She learned the art of music for almost two years under his guidance. Shilpi first sang in a singing competition organized in her school and received huge admiration from her teachers and friends. As a result, she started participating in many singing events organized inside and outside her school. She belonged to a low-income family. Her father is a mill worker, and her mother works in a nursery.

Silpi has four siblings. Therefore, parents had fewer resources for each one of them. She works in the Bhojpuri music industry.
