Kiran Kant Verma is an Indian director and writer working for Bhojpuri Films. He was born on 23rd October in Patna, Bihar, India. He did his Bachelor’s in Law and has a Master’s degree in Sociology. He is involved in filmmaking, theatres and poetry bringing his exquisite cine-crafts on screen. He has worked as a poet for various National Newspapers and periodicals. Then he worked on ‘Haque Ki Ladai’ in 1996. Kiran Kant is significantly recognised for working with Richard Attenbrough, a Hollywood director for the movie ‘Gandhi.’ He is also credited for working with the famous ‘Loksen Lalwani’ for the film ‘Kalka.’
His work for stage plays includes ‘Giddha,’ ‘Curfew,’ ‘Dulari Bai,’ ‘Khela Polampur,’ ‘Badi Bauji,’ ‘Gulel,’ and many more. He received the honorable Kalidas Rangalya Patna in 1998 and the Sanskar Bharti Award in 2000. He received the National Fellowship by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India for his Research on ‘Bhikari Thakur.’ He was also nominated as an Expert Mmber for Loksangeet Audition by Mahanirdeshalya Akashwani, Akashwani Patna for two years. He was made the Jury member for ‘Devi Ahilya Awards by the Government of Madhya Pradesh. This man is dedicated to change the Bojpuri film industry and bring all the recognition possible. He has also remade the Bojpuri version of the famous movie ‘Devdas’ based on the novel by Sharat Chandra Chattopadhaya that has already been released in 14 other languages.
