Payal Chadha is one of the most popular, most celebrated North-East couturiers. She is a fashion designer. Her flexible work reflects the inspiration from the rich Indian embroidery and textiles and modern Silhouettes. Payal’s creativity shows a great understanding of her client’s style concept and requirements. Payal's creations are not only fashionable but impervious to the winds of change. Gauhar Khan, Mahima Chaudhry, Jackie Shroff, Sunil Shetty, Nyonika Chatterjee, and Nyonika Lodh have been the showstopper of Payal's exhibitions, which she has been doing for 21 years, since 1999 where a small fashion store in Rajgarh that grows into historic couture in Guwahati. The creation of the 2000 gallery is a traditional tour of Assamese Muga and Pat with the weavers' soft fingers, to turn it into glorious art exhibitions.

She has been the pioneer in creating mekhela sador and saris in numerous variations in Assam. Apart from running her own tag Gallery 2000, Payal has also taken a step forward and teamed up with entrepreneur Indu Singh to open another boutique, Weavers Gallery. This not only gives a platform to the weavers from across the Northeast to showcase their collection, they also take guidance from Payal to remain up- to- date with the rearmost trends. She believes training of weavers should be on the government's precedence list. Over the times, She have felt there's a deficit of embroiderers in Assam and She has personally faced problems because of embroiderers' crunch.

And feels that this is one of the reasons for which neither Gallery 2000 nor Weavers Gallery has gone online. She sits on panels judging the winners of the best runway, Prag Cine Awards, Femina Style Diva, Telegraph Calendar T2 tour. Designer Payal Chadha has been honored with the Telegraph's Axom Srestha, an award made for those who make history.
