Mridul Bhuyan was born in Letekupukhuri of North Lakhimpur. His father is Prafulla Bhuyan, and his mother is Kunjalata Bhuyan. His family has a sister, two younger brothers, and a wife. He resides in Gosuk, Guwahati. He joined the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) and joined mobile theatre after his return. He started his theatre journey with Hengul Theatre in 1993. His first film as an Actor was Bukur Majot Jole (1999) as Nihar Soliha. He then played a role in Longka Kando, for which he won the Best Action Hero Award. He also worked as a Director in the TV Series Bharaghar from 2012-14.
He has been with almost all the theatres of Assam except Kohinoor. These theatres include Bhagyadevi, Bordoisila, Sankardev, Brindabon, Awahon, Itihaakh, and Rajtilaak. The plays that made an impact on his life and received high audience appreciation were Matalbhor by Bhagyadevi Theatre, two plays based on Bhupen Da's life, Hoikhobote Dhemali and Bhul Nubujiba Bhupen Da, Maya Mathu Maya, Smaxan Jatra, and Morom Bisari Jaon Bola.
He has received 27 different awards in his career. He received the first award started by the Assam Government for the play Matalbhora. The award was known as the Bhramyaman Award. He received the Best Actor Award from many associations, which include Mulen Media, Rodali, Yesmon Media, Rohomanob Premoda Kanta Award, Assam Kriya Hongho, and Asom Hindu Mahasabha.
