V. Srinivasan and his contributions to the industry
Muktha Srinivasan aka V. Srinivasan step his foot in the film industry in 1947. T. R. Sundaram appointed Srinivasan as a Senior Assistant. He instructed artists on how to deliver dialogues. He has worked with big names in the industry such as T. R. Mahalingam, Director K. Ramnoth and Anjali Devi, among others.
‘Mudhalali,’ Srinivasan’s first directed movie, released in 1957. It received the much-deserved approbation and the National Award presented by Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the President of India at that time. The event was also attended by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. The film went on to become quite celebrated for its music numbers. Accompanied by his brother Mukhtha V. Ramaswamy, Srinivasan managed the Muktha Films which went on to become one of the exalted and celebrated banners in the Tamil film industry.
V. Srinivasan received the Best Film award for his movie ‘Balaparitchai’ in 1978 by the state government of Tamil Nadu. At a young age, Srinivasan was influenced by the Communist ideology. An ardent reader, Srinivasan later got aroused by the ideas of Gandhi and joined Congress in 1961. Like Gandhi, he would spin his own clothes with a hand machine. Having held the positions of the District Congress President, he is now working under the guidance of Sonia Gandhi.
