The drama opens on Anousha's wedding day when her demand for the divorce clause disrupts the union. With the marriage cancelled Anousha's life takes an unexpected turn as her cousin Junaid proposes to her instead. This creates a complex love triangle between the leads. Nikah explores themes of consent, women's rights, love, and family values. Anousha's unconventional request for divorce rights reflects her progressive views which clash with her family's traditional expectations.
As the plot unfolds, buried secrets, class differences, and opposing mindsets cause escalating family tensions. Filmed in Karachi, Nikah features production values typical of Pakistani serials. The story unfolds through the inner lives of Anousha, Junaid, and their families underscored by emotional Ost vocals. Nikah provides thoughtful commentary on women fighting for their rights within the confines of systemic misogyny. It also examines class differences and entitlement through its depiction of elite families. While entertaining, the serial highlights important social issues facing modern Pakistani women.
