Main Mar Gai Shoukat Ali is a Pakistani serial premiered in 2016 on A Plus. It is an Urdu-language serial that focuses on the life of Rakhi as she experiences twists and turns in her love life. Rakhi is an independent woman from a humble background. She works as a daily wage worker to make ends meet. Rakhi loves Shoukat Ali, her fiance, and wants to marry him. However, due to Shoukat’s careless attitude towards life, she hesitates to marry him. Shoukat is an unemployed man who doesn’t take his life seriously. He avoids doing chores and doesn’t contribute to his family. Rakhi loves Shoukat for his truthfulness and kind nature. Often, Shoukat is insulted by Rakhi’s mother for borrowing money from her and not earning his own.

Rakhi believes that Shoukat will soon be successful. The story escalates when Meher, the wealthiest man of the village falls in love with Rakhi. Meher is the village’s landlord and is respected by them. He’s married to Naaki and has a son who has been mute since birth. Meher believes that he can buy anything he wishes. After the birth of his son, Meher stopped loving Naaki. He doesn’t spend time with her and avoids being with her. Meher is a selfish person who thinks of himself above everyone. Since Meher has seen Rakhi, he wants to spend time with her. However, Rakhi understands Meher’s evil intentions for her. She doesn’t respect Meher and dislikes him. Meher knows Rakhi’s financial and personal state thus, he plans to make her needy to marry him. Meher has a loyal right-hand man with whom he plans to marry Rakhi.

The right-hand man visits Shoukat and proposes to him to convince Rakhi to work in Meher’s palace. The man tells him that he will get paid for an easy job, Shoukat agrees and tries to persuade Rakhi. However, Rakhi slaps Shoukat to teach him a lesson. Later, the man meets Rakhi’s mother and tells her that Meher wants to marry Rakhi.
