This serial is based on an Urdu novel, Maat, written by Umera Ahmad. This drama was the highest-rated Pakistani drama.

The story is about two sisters, Aiman, the elder, and Saman, the younger sister. Aiman is a caring, loving, and kind-hearted girl. Saman is over-ambitious and overconfident and thinks she can give Maat to anyone. Their cousin Faisal likes Saman and proposes to her, but he has already engaged with Aiman. Saman refused his proposal, but later, seeing his financial stability, she accepted his proposal and married him.

They had a baby from their marriage, and they named him Hadeed. Saman cannot care for her child, so Aiman started babysitting for her child. Later, Saman is having an affair with Faisal's business partner, Azar. Azar is rich and handsome, so she falls for him. Saman's rude behavior with her mother-in-law results from being slapped by Faisal. She files for divorce.

She marries Azar, and he breaks his partnership with Faisal. Later, Aiman's mother and aunt decide to marry Faisal, so Hadeed can't face the family issue. After 25 years, Faisal has started dating Saman because Azar has died. Faisal ends his marriage with Aiman and remarrys with Saman. Seeing this, Aiman leaves the house, but his son takes her back home. Four years later, Hadeed is married, has a child, and lives with Aiman. Then Saman calls Aiman and asks for an apology. Aiman forgives her but reminds her that the misery has done her. Here, Aiman gave the Maat to Saman.
