The opening theme of this drama is very famous, as Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has performed it. The story revolves around four characters who are friends at first, but later, their fates get intertwined into a relationship that is closer than that of friends- an exchange of money in the name of love. Khasara has received critical acclamation for its unique and intriguing storyline.

Sila and Moonis are a simple and mundane couple who live in Karachi. Although they are together, their personalities are stark opposites. Sila adores a lavish lifestyle, and so, she chases her desires. Moonis is content working as a railway employee and prefers his life the way it is. Moonis’ childhood best friend Mohtasim and his wife, Linta, come to visit Moonis. Mohtasim is portrayed as a wealthy businessman and playboy, who likes to flirt with every woman he encounters. Linta is a spoilt rich brat who loves bragging about her luxurious life and her wealth.

Mohtasim and Linta spoil Sila and Moonis by getting gifts for them and their kids, and even giving them money! Mohtasim begins to woo Sila by flirting with her, knowing he can get her. Sila falls for him knowing that he can support her desires for a lavish life, so they begin dating. Moonis is heartbroken when he finds out about their affair, but he lets Sila go. Sila and Mohtasim face a lot of challenges as they demand child custody from Moonis. Linta also gives Sila a hard time for getting together with her previous husband.

One fateful evening, a drunk Mohtasim gets in a car accident and passes away. Linta passes this news to Sila, who breaks down and cries. She goes back to Moonis, who is reluctant to accept her back again, but he still loves her. Sila goes to pray in a dargah, where she spends hours crying and regretting her life choices. She realizes that even if Moonis may not be so well-off, he always loved her unconditionally. Sila realizes that she can’t make up for this loss, Khasara, and thus, she slowly dies.
