She was unable to get pregnant, so being a willing victim, she married Munir to Mehrunnisa.

Later, she bears another child, which she raises all by herself. This bittersweet relationship between Mehrunnisa and Asmat, remains as it is, until both the women are left to face the dark turn which destiny has for them.Aaliya and Safeer grow up, completely raised by Asmat. Safeer loves Alishba who is the daughter of Hassan’s arch nemesis Najm-Uz-Zaman.

Things take darker twists and turns after Hassan dies. Unaware of the filthy extremities that Najm could go to, Asmat lets Alishba and Safeer get married after Hassan’s death. Najm makes his son-in-law, Safeer, sell the construction business and start a new business which brings financial loss. Meanwhile, Aaliya’s husband, Saqib, is revealed to be gay and now she has to get divorced. After such unexpected events, Mehrunnisa and Asmat unite. The next part of the story showcases female companionship and sisterhood as Mehrunnisa and Asmat try to pick up the dismantled pieces of their lives together.

Shehzad (Mehrunnisa’s ex-lover) enters the scene and is an unmarried young successful man with the heart of an angel. He exposes Najm’s true face and helps Safeer. Asmat, being a good friend to Mehrunnisa, does everything in her power to get Mehrunnisa and Shehzad get married. With a blend of dramatic tragedy, sorrow and the eventual solution, ‘Humnasheen,’ became a highly popular show in Pakistan.
