Dirilis is an adventurous historical fictional television series on Hum TV. The show was also aired on PTV Home. The show is a dubbed version in Urdu. Originally, Dirilis: Ertugrul was a Turkish show that aired on TRT 1. This show was a significant success in Turkey. Netflix also released this show internationally in the year 2016-17. Although, the show was completed removed from Netflix in April 2023. The show had five seasons. There were a total of 150 episodes of this show which were splitted into 448 episodes for releasing it on Netflix. It was released on TRT 1 on 10 December 2014. The show was wrapped up on 29 May 2019. As the series portrayed Islamic morals and values, it was a well-accepted series even in Pakistan. It was also broadcasted in various other countries but banned in a few including Egypt. Pakistan’s prime minister approved this series and motivated the citizens to watch it. The series was criticized by many countries for having some other political agenda by the government of Turkey. The series became popular throughout the world and was often called as the Turkish “Game of Thrones”. Engin Altan Duzyatan played the role of Ertugrul Bey. Kaan Tasaner played the role of Gundogdu Bey. Hulya Darcan played the role of Hayme Hatun. Nurrettin Sonmez played the role of Bamsi Beyrek. Didem Balcin played the role of Selcan Hatun. Esra Bilgic played the role of Halime Hatun. Cengiz Coskun played the role of Turgut Alp. Hande Soral played the role of Ilbilge Hatun. Ertugrul Bey was the father of Osman 1. He was a Muslim nomad and warrior of the 13th century. He was the son of Suleyman Sah and Hayme Hutun. Suleyman Shah was the leader of the Kayi tribe. He sent Ertugrul to the Emir of Aleppo to ask for land for their tribe. But all the planning was in vain because the Kayi tribe saved three people who changed their fate. Nasir, a traitor in the Emir’s palace was later killed by Ertugrul and the truth was in front of Emir. After the death of his father, Ertugrul took over the lead for the Kayis. Kayi tribe value their traditions, cultures and customs more than anything else. The story shows the struggles and war of Ertugrul as they try to establish a homeland. There was a war of Ertugrul tribes with Mongols in the east and Crusaders and Byzantines in the West. Finally an empire was set by his son Osman named the Ottoman Empire. Osman Bey was the third and youngest child of Ertugrul. His other two children were Gunduz Alp and Savci Bey. The show also showcased the Bubonic Plague known as the Black Death that happened in that time period. It was shot in a small village in Istanbul named Riva. The series showcases the whole story of how the Ottoman Empire was established. Metin Gunay was the Director of this show. Mehmet Bozdag was the Producer and writer of this show. This series also had a sequel named Kurulus: Osman. This sequel focused more on the life of Osman. Some of the episodes are available on Dailymotion for online streaming.
