The serial tells the story of a young woman named Kaneez and how her life takes an unexpected turn after a chain of events takes place.

Shah Mir Afandi is portrayed as a very rich and influential business man. Twelve years ago he had lost his beloved wife Shireen while she was giving birth to their daughter named Parniyan. However, his love for his dead wife has not lost its spark, not even for once. He remembers her fondly and still celebrates their wedding anniversary because he knows that his wife is still alive in his heart and he still loves her. Shireen had been a divorcee with a 13 year old boy when they had first met, yet Shah Mir was unaffected by that knowledge and had loved her. After her death he had never been the same and has an ever present void in his heart. However, his life takes a sudden twist when a series of events lead to a failed kidnapping against him and in another series of events he is forced to marry his servant's daughter named Kaneez.

Kaneez is portrayed as a girl who is half his age and uneducated being brought up in a poor family. Shah Mir feels reluctant to inform his family of this new change of relationship and when word gets out, Kaneez tries her best to oblige to the wishes of everyone. She faces several obstacles and gets hurt emotionally in a number of incidents, however, she puts up a brave face through it all. Whether she will stand up on her own and fight for her rights or whether she will continue to obey the harsh commands of everyone is what constitutes the rest of the episodes.
